Zerodha (and Groww, Upstox, Angel One) will hand you every trade you've ever made — but as a raw list of buys and sells, with none of the analytics that tell you whether you're actually good. This guide turns that export into a complete performance report in about a minute, without paying for a foreign journal app or uploading your trades to anyone's server.
Step 1 — export your tradebook
In Zerodha Console, go to Reports → Tradebook, choose your date range and segment (equity, F&O, etc.), and download it as a CSV or Excel file. Groww and other brokers have an equivalent trade/order report in their reports section.
Step 2 — open the free Trading Journal
Open the PaisaTools Trading Journal. Everything runs in your browser — there's no signup, and nothing you import is ever uploaded. Your trades stay on your own device.
Step 3 — paste or drop the file
Expand the import panel and either drop the CSV file straight in, choose it from your device, or copy the rows and paste them. The journal auto-detects the format — including tab-separated data pasted from Excel or Google Sheets. Just make sure the first row is the column header.
A broker tradebook lists individual buy and sell legs, not finished trades. The journal handles this for you: it FIFO-pairs your buys and sells into completed round-trip trades automatically, so a day of scalping the same option becomes clean, matched trades rather than a wall of orders.
Step 4 — read your real numbers
The moment the import finishes, you get the analytics your broker never shows:
- Win rate, profit factor, expectancy and payoff ratio
- Max drawdown and longest losing streak — the pain you actually survived
- An equity curve and a daily P&L calendar
- Per-symbol and per-setup breakdowns — which instruments and strategies make or lose money
- A shareable stats card, without exposing any individual trade
Most traders discover something uncomfortable and useful within minutes — one over-traded symbol carrying most of the losses, or a weekday that's quietly negative. That's the whole point: the export was always there; now it's a diagnosis.

- How do I import Zerodha trades into a trading journal?
- Download your tradebook from Zerodha Console (Reports → Tradebook) as a CSV, then open the free PaisaTools Trading Journal, expand the import panel, and drop or paste the file. It auto-detects the format and FIFO-pairs your buy/sell legs into completed trades, then computes your full stats.
- Is it safe to upload my broker trades?
- With the PaisaTools Trading Journal your trades are never uploaded — the import happens entirely in your browser and the data is stored only on your own device. Nothing is sent to any server, and you can delete everything in one click.
- Does it work with Groww, Upstox and other brokers?
- Yes. Any broker export with symbol, trade type, quantity and price works. The journal auto-detects common formats and pairs the legs into round-trip trades, so it isn't limited to Zerodha.
- Is the trading journal really free?
- Yes — completely free, no signup, no tiers and no ads. It's free forever and your data stays private on your device.
