Read a candle

Every candle on the chart is one slice of time. Its body runs from the price at the start of the slice to the price at the end; the thin wicks show how far the price travelled either way in between. Green closed higher than it opened, red closed lower.

1.Look at the row, not the candle

One red candle in a run of green ones is a pause, not a reversal. Read the last 15–20 candles together: are the highs and lows stepping up (an uptrend), stepping down, or going sideways?

2.Long wicks are rejected prices

A long upper wick means buyers pushed the price up and sellers pushed it back. Several of them near the same level mark a ceiling the market keeps failing at.

3.Change the timeframe before you decide

The 5-second chart is mostly noise. Switch to 1m or 5m to see the trend, then come back to the short chart to time your entry.
