This is the income-free, security-based ceiling. The actual amount also depends on the lender's purity test and gold rate on the day — and only the gold content counts, so stones and the making charges in jewellery are excluded.
This shows how much gold loan you can geton the gold you pledge. Enter the weight, pick the purity (22K is most common for jewellery), set today's 24K rate, and it works out the market value of the pure-gold content and the loan at your chosen LTV.
A gold loan is secured by the gold itself, so unlike a home or personal loan it doesn't depend on your income or credit score — eligibility is just purity-adjusted weight × rate × LTV. The RBI caps banks at 75% LTV, so a lender keeps a 25% buffer against gold-price swings. Only the gold content counts: stones and the making charges baked into jewellery are excluded.
The figure here is the income-free ceiling on what you can borrow. The exact sanction depends on the lender's own purity test and the rate they apply on the day. Comparing borrowing options? See our home loan eligibility and EMI calculators too.
Eligibility is computed as weight × (carat ÷ 24) × 24K rate × LTV%, using purity factors of 100% for 24K, 91.6% for 22K and 75% for 18K. The 75% LTV ceiling follows RBIguidelines for gold loans from banks. Actual valuation, applicable rate and final LTV are at the lender's discretion. Not financial advice.
