How it works

This is a running overtime timesheet: log your in and out time each day and it keeps a tally of hours worked, overtime hours and overtime pay. Set it up once — your salary or hourly rate, standard shift timing and overtime rate — then just add a row whenever you finish a shift.

Two switches keep it flexible. Count in-time decides whether overtime is measured from your actual in-time or just from how late you stayed past the scheduled end. Show salary toggles between a pure time view (hours and overtime only) and the full pay view (overtime pay and total pay). Whatever you choose, Export CSV hands you a clean timesheet for Excel, Sheets or printing.

Method & sources

Hours are computed from the in/out times you log (overnight shifts handled by rolling past midnight). Overtime is the time beyond your standard shift length — or beyond the scheduled shift end when “count in-time” is off. Overtime pay = overtime hours × effective hourly rate × the overtime multiplier (default 2×, per the Factories Act). The hourly rate is derived from your monthly salary (salary ÷ working days ÷ shift hours) or entered directly. An estimate for your records — confirm pay against your employer's policy.

How does this overtime calculator work?: Set your pay (monthly salary or hourly rate), your standard shift timing and the overtime rate. Then log each day's in and out time. The tool works out hours worked, overtime hours (anything beyond your standard shift) and the overtime pay, and keeps a running timesheet you can export to CSV. Your entries are saved in your browser on this device.
What does the 'count in-time' option do?: When ticked, hours worked = out time − in time, and overtime is anything beyond your standard shift length. When unticked, only the out time is used — overtime is how long you stayed past the scheduled shift end (handy if you always start on time and just want to log when you left). Untick it and the in-time column disappears.
What overtime rate should I use?: Under India's Factories Act, overtime is generally paid at twice the ordinary wage, so 2× is the default. Your company or state rules may differ (some pay 1.5×), so set the multiplier to whatever applies to you.
Can I see just the hours without the salary?: Yes. Turn off 'Show salary' to get a pure time view — daily hours and overtime hours only, no pay columns. Turn it back on to add overtime pay and total pay. The CSV export matches whichever view you've chosen.
Can I export my timesheet?: Yes — click Export CSV to download your full timesheet (date, in, out, hours, overtime, and overtime pay if shown), with a totals row. CSV opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or any spreadsheet, so you can save, print or share it in any format you need.
Are my entries saved?: Yes, on your device. The timesheet and settings are stored in your browser's local storage, so you can come back day after day and keep adding — nothing is uploaded to a server, so your data stays private to you.
