Starting pay at cell 1 of each post's 7th CPC level, one increment a year, today's DA held for the later years, NPS 10% and new-regime tax deducted. Post-specific allowances (risk, nursing, uniform), promotions and MACP are not included; each post's guide has the detail.

Choosing which exam to take is partly a money question: what will each job actually put in your account, now and a few years in? This page answers it for up to three central government jobs at once, from the same official pay rules, so the numbers are comparable.

For one job in detail (any level, any cell, any years of service) use the Sarkari Pay Calculator, or see the full government job salary list.

Central government posts only, at the entry cell of each level. Today's DA is held for the later years, so the 5- and 10-year figures are a floor. State police and state teachers have their own pay scales and are not compared here.

Which government job pays more, SSC GD or Railway Group D?
SSC GD constables start at Level 3 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix and Railway Group D at Level 1, so SSC GD starts higher. Pick both in the compare tool above to see the in-hand gap in the first year, after 5 years and after 10 years, for your city class.
How is the in-hand salary worked out?
Starting basic from the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, plus DA (63% from 1 July 2026), HRA by city class and transport allowance with DA (the higher rate for X cities, including Ghaziabad, which counts as X for HRA; in a Y city, answer Yes to "Higher transport allowance city?" if yours is one of the 10 on the 2017 notified list), minus 10% of basic plus DA for NPS and new-regime income tax. The same rules as our Sarkari Pay Calculator.
Why are Agniveer, GDS and Army not in the list?
Their pay doesn't follow the plain pay matrix: Agniveer is a fixed yearly package with a corpus deduction, GDS is paid TRCA by working-hour slab, and Army pay adds Military Service Pay. Each has its own salary guide on PaisaTools.
Does the comparison include promotions?
No. It shows the same post with one increment a year, so the comparison is fair. Promotions, MACP and post-specific allowances (risk, nursing, uniform) add to these figures and differ by department.
